Visit to Oliwa
Oliwa, in the opinion of many experts is one of the most beautiful quarters of Gdańsk. Unusual building complexes add to the pre-war climate of the little streets and surprises the tourists with the number of the cultural and natural monuments. A visit to the Cathedral and vast park is an obligatory stop for every tour. Sacred art monuments, magnificent organ music and elaborate natural compositions will satisfy the most demanding tourists. |

Gdańsk Shipyard sightseeing Everything started in this city! The social protests from the early 1980s resulted in certain concessions from communist authorities, most importantly the establishment of the independent trade union – Solidarity – the first legal political opposition in the post-war Poland. In the next several years, Solidarity made the socialist system collapse in Poland, followed by the breakdown of communist regimes in other East European countries. The atmosphere of the events from thirty years ago can be felt in St. Bridget’s Church, at the Monument of the Killed Shipyard Workers and in the ‘Roads to Freedom’ Exhibition. |
